A CLIMATE-DRIVEN PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE MACHINE

Only the floor plates of the ÖAMTC building remain, fragments of another time that stir memory and invite people to dream of the past. Inspired by the surface tension of soap bubbles, these Cloud Bubbles push through the building, housing public spaces alongside the offices of the Ministry for the Future.

Along its ascent, platforms offer spaces to learn, to observe, and to engage with the latest knowledge, enabling visitors to take an active role in confronting climate change.

The old structure is thus transformed into a place of calm, meditation, and withdrawal. It is set apart from its surroundings by soft metallic curtains that also serve as climatic membranes against wind and rain

Their outer envelope is clad in highly polished, reflective stainless steel, appearing like a warped mirror that renders the surroundings and the building itself blurred, unstable, and strangely elusive.

Like a vast unheated tent, this envelope surrounds the existing building and creates successive layers of shelter.
