Platforms for Doing Nothing – Institute for Art and Architecture/Academy of Fine Arts

A future scenario is envisioned in which human civilization has collapsed, yet remnants of humanity persist on Earth. The setting features a grand monument from the past, originally built to convey messages to extraterrestrial life when humans believed they could communicate with the universe on a one-to-one basis. Now, beneath this once-symbolic structure, people live in conditions reminiscent of earlier times, relying on basic means.

The project reflects the consequences of humanity’s hubristic attitude toward the planet. It offers a poignant commentary on the contrast between humanity’s cosmic ambitions, believing they could reach out to outer space, and the reality of terrestrial survival following the failure of that dream.
